Hello everyone!

I'm looking for about a dozen white cardboard boxes for 400' Super 8 reels. Where can I order these in the states?

This is where I got mine. These come flat and you them fold up...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOVIE-FILM-REEL-STORAGE-BOX-400-7-8MM-16MM-SUPER-8-/380217221082?hash=item5886b65fda

There are these heavier boxes...but of course more expensive...

Why on earth doesn't anyone have 1200' boxes? I need some :-)

I am considering getting them made, but I need to buy 200 minimum ... A bit much. I would keep 30 or 40 I guess

See what I mean by the "skills unlimited" on this forum, Pat is a
dab hand at making boxes, Winbert's box covers are something else, I think you folks should be utilising each others skills. I just
stand back in amazement on how I'm surrounded on this forum
by the shear brilliance of folks talents.

Vidar,

Buy white LP mailer. It will do the same for boxing films.

In the USA there is a certain mailer that you can arrange the ticknes according to the number of LPs you will send. By this you can arrange too for how many reels inside starting from one 1200' reel until max (i think) 3 reels. By using this type of mailer we can avoid the reels shaking inside.

The cost is around 90 cents each.

If anybody else needs boxes, please email CHC and tell about it ... He considers making 1200' boxes, but only if there's a demand. I am the only one asking for them, so please give a notice if you want some too

Thanks

In answering your question via PM and for the benefit of others, I replied in this particular thread.

There are plenty of record mailers you can find on ebay with various prices:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=record+mailer&_pgn=2&_skc=50&r t=nc

The best type of mailer for me is the one that can be arranged the thickness, plus the mailer has to have slit so we can open the mailer like opening a book, i.e no need tape to open and close the lid (ps: I am sorry I don't know to say this in better English, perhaps others can help)

I still don't know which is large enough ... One LP is smaller than a 1200' Super 8 reel ... How many LP's do fit to get a nice fit for 1200'?

Thanks for the link

Hi everyone,

This isn't my first post, but I thought I would introduce myself here. I have been a collector of super 8 and 16mm film for about 28 years. The bug bit when I was around 15 years old in the mid 1980s. Since then I have built a collection of 16mm film with some super 8 as well.

Just over a year ago, I got some 200ft card boxes made for my own use as I couldn't find any anywhere. I then put the surplus on ebay any they sold well. Since then I now can supply 600ft boxes and 400ft boxes.

I'm not making a huge profit on these items (as my tax return confirms!) but I have sold sufficient to consider getting more sizes made. I am only doing this as a part time business as I have a full-time job but I thought I would do this as I want to support the film making and collecting community.

Now for the good news - I have on order some 1200ft boxes and they should arrive in the next two weeks. I was going to post this message when they arrived, but on seeing this thread, I thought I would let you all know today. I will also recut the boxes to provide a 800ft size as well.

If anyone would like some more information on these boxes I would be happy to answer any questions.

It's probably you I've bought on eBay from before then :-)

I would love it if you did the 1200' and 800' ... I am up for some 30 of the 1200' and 10 of the 800' for now. If it was you, the boxes are great, nice fit and holds the shape nicely

Hello Vidar,

Yes I think I have sold to you before. My ebay id is autoload16. I'm glad you liked them. I will let you know as soon as the boxes arrive.

Super ... Hope you get this through as no-one seem to want to create them ... I was about to ask at a factory here. They'd do a minimum of 200, but that's a bit more than I need

Vidar,

An LP has an exact size 12" that is the same size with 1200' reel. Well some reels have a slightly bigger size but the mailer is also not exactly 12" to avoid LP getting wrapped.

Akshay,

Yes I have left Toronto for good, but I am still not in Indonesia (yet), so will change that when I permanently landed in Indonesia.

The Film Forever Company has started carrying film boxes of various sizes. These are the same film boxes used by all the major film studios in Hollywood. They also feature an 'Archival' film box in two sizes that helps retard and prevent vinegar syndrome. Although not specifically made for 8mm only, they are far superior to anything out there today.

You can write The Film Forever Company at: thefilmforevercompany@gmail.com for more information.

Just to add to what John has already wrote himself in this forum, he now is able to supply anyone who, like me, has been crying out for some time the manufacture of brand new card white 1200ft Super 8 boxes. He will soon also be supplying us collectors with 800ft versions made from the same card. Please support this venture as much as possible to ensure as collectors, we have all of spool sizes covered for many years to come. Well done John!
