Thought someone would find it useful to know that I avoided (for now) the inconvenient replacement of the main drive belt on a B&H 2592 using the Bondini method.

For details, please see
http://www.paulivester.com/films/projector/b&h_belts/b&h_belt.htm
which I found to be helpful and accurate.

In this case, projector speed was unstable due to slippage, to the point that the film would nearly stop. Cold weather exacerbated the problem.

Rubber treatment helped only nominally -- revitalizing it can't hurt, but if it's stretched enough, it's going to slip.

With my wife's gracious help (four hands is a must to keep everything in place), I cut the belt with heavy kitchen scissors, then removed a piece about 3/8" long. A half-inch might have been better. Then Bondini all over one end, and 15 seconds later it was solid.

A show last Friday was successful, running time over an hour on multiple reels and rewinds. The rewind works better too.

Total cost: couple of bucks. Total time: less than 20 minutes "on task."

Thank you, Richard... this belt will stretch out again eventually, at which time I'll have to deal with the inevitable.
