Hi all,
please pitch in your thoughts on this machine? Also, could you please tell me how it fares in regards to brightness (is it incandescent/ Halogen/ Xenon)? Thanks a ton [Big Grin] !!!

Best,
ET

I have 2 of these 1 is an Eiki, and the other is the 3580 Bell & Howell both work very well they both have auto loop shut down if the loop is lost it shuts down to prevent film damage as far as the lamps go I have a ample supply of EJL'S ELC'S as long as they are 200-250W-24V they should work the unit has a switch that allows you to turn up the watts.

Amongst the best Eiki machines but I would choose a Bell & Howell over it every time. Much kinder to vintage films and without shredding them

I'd say there's an element of luck. You might get one that's excellent and reliable, or if you're unlucky you might get one like mine! Despite it being like new old stock, the top loop restorer mechanism has gone wrong, the main control switch isn't quite right and about one time in every eight, the film gets somehow 'clamped' in the gate and damaged when the projector starts, however careful I am with the threading. You need an expert to fix such problems!

I have the autothread equivalent of the SSL (the ENT with the touch switches) and mine is great - by far the best projector I've owned.

I have a Bell & Howell 3580 slot load. It has been good to me so far. Easy to load and unload. I had to fix the focus knob when I first got it but other than that it runs like a top.

The Bell & Howell 3580 Slot-Load is made by Eiki. It is badged as a Bell & Howell.
It is the same as the Eiki SSL-0 Standard Slot Load.

WOW!!!

thanks a lot, guys!!! I have a few follow up questions [Smile] ...

Jim and the gang: 200-250 watts? That's way lower than my Pageant of 750, 1000 or 1200 watts, though incandescent. I wanna know if the EIKI is Halogen? Jus wanna know if I can get a brighter image as the church hall we use for projection is rather large and the long throw is affecting brightness, please help [Frown] ...

Thanks again, fellas, and can't wait to hear back from y'all [Smile] !!!

Best,
ET

Elyas
The ELC lamp is halogen.
The Eiki has an f1.2 lens, whereas (I believe) the Kodak Pageant has an f1.6.
An f1.2 lens will probably pass almost twice the amount of light than an F1.6 lens so you should have no problems with screen brightness.

Thanks a lot once more, fellas [Smile] !!! A few more follow up questions yet again [Smile] ...

1) Availability of lamps for these bad boys.
2) How do they fair on kindness to film as compared with an incandescent Pageant?
3) What would be a reasonable price for one in decent working order?

Thanks again [Big Grin] !!!

Best,
ET
