I was reading the thread on the 8mm section on shutters. While i do fully understand that a 2 blade is used by many to put extra light upon the screen, i was recently reading the update and mod leaflets for from eiki and i see that a 5 blade shutter was availible. Could someone enlighten me as to why a 5 blade would be used please.

My guess Tom would be for telecine or perhaps the 5-blade shutter was used for TV since it would be more compatible with TV's 60fps.

(A bit late in the game,as usual )
The 5-blade shutter is absolutely necessary for real-time telecine in the day when 60i is the only video format available. But in this day and age when camera with 24p framerate is pretty common. Do we still really need this modification? (Done the telecine with unmodified projector. No flickering/banding at all.)
