Are my projectors getting heavier, or am I just getting old?

I know exactly how you feel Maurice. I had recently taken a load of old 8ooft reels and cans which I had acquired over the years and were of no use to me down to Umit's shop in Hackney. I was very pleased with the extra space that I now had available for all the new films I had bought so I then thought that if I was to throw out all the non working projectors and the piles of old VHS tapes that I was never going to watch again I would have even more space. This meant that I had to move over 60 16mm features and about 90 Super 8 features out of the way and then back into their newly acquired shelf spaces (there's still quite a few films piled up on the floor but it looks a lot better). All of the junk had to be carried down 4 flights of stairs. I'm now left with 3 working 16mm projectors and 7 working super 8 machines so that should see me out. Anyway the upshot of all this is that it nearly killed me, I hadn't realised how out of condition I was. I ached for days. And I'm only in my 50's! I now can understand just how hard the film dealers work when they attend the film collectors conventions, transporting all their stock to and from the venues. I'm glad that I never got into collecting 35mm films as I probably would have given myself a hernia.

Paul.

Boy, I hear you there Paul. I once won a print of "Gorky Park" (Lee marvin, 1982) on 35MM on 7 of those rather large reels, (at least to me), and that son of a gun weighed around sixty pounds!

I know that as i reselled it and doubled my profit, but that meant a walk down five city blocks to deliver it to the post.
I've been working out for the last twenty years, (with my own weight bench and free weights), but even being all "buffed up"
, that feature film HURT to get it down there!

I've been thinking about getting rid of a number of old projectors as well. My only problem is that I'm betting that it's just one thing wrong with them and then I'd feel like a fool if I was to let them go, so they continue to ly about the house.
