We all know (it's not a piece of news, after all) Italian 8mm prints are generally 'so and so' (just to be diplomatic and politically correct).
Good/excellent prints were released and still exist, of course. But not so many, if compared to the HUGE amount of titles still available and circulating here, produced and distributed before the video tape era.
But allow me to share with you a genuine moment of glory, if you please.
I had been looking for a movie titled GOLDRAKE L'INVINCIBILE , an Italian edition of a Japanese Anime so popular here (but also in France, Germany, Spain and Canada) during the late 70's-early 80's AND I HAVE FINALLY FOUND IT TODAY. The end of a 30 years search!..
We are more or less all collectors, here. So you can all imagine the way I feel tonight.
Printed on Agfa LPP, this 5*600ft animated feature (not a pirate, but an official issue) is really hard to find and almost all Italian 8mm collectors dream about it. At least, those who love the genre and remember those old days, when all Italian children, at 7.10 pm, where sitting in mystical silence in front of the television waiting for the daily episode of this unforgettable 'man of the space' to be aired.
A real gem, a wonderful print with great color and sharp. One of the best we can find here in Italy (probably THE BEST EVER). Feeling like to scream (should I say screen?) my happiness to the whole world, tonight.
