In this day and age where so much wheeling and dealing is done through the internet e-bay its nice to think that some things dont change. Over the weekend we had our local swap meet which has been running for 30 years with a total of 650 sites. You can buy things from home made jam and even that odd film projector pops up anything in fact. The vintage car club are behind it so there is a great display of cars and parts, you name it and its there. Also a really neat working steam railway. Even though thousands attend it always surprises me who I bump into, one chap came up yesterday and said haven't seen you in a while "actually almost 30 years" from people I worked with in aviation long long ago. One person I met said there is a Super8 camera for sale over there... and so it goes on. People are really friendly and plenty for the kids to do if they get bored. What I find most interesting are the cars many I worked on during the 60s and 70s as a mechanic and now regarded as classics, British and American from Ford Mustang, Studebakers, Triumph, Morris and so on its paradise if you like old cars. Incidentally I have on loan some 16mm Studebaker promo films from the late 50s which are very interesting, anyway sounds like I am going on a bit much so here a few photos you might find of interest, by the way after weeks of sunshine... yesterday it rained and rained which is just typical eh!.

Ever owned a Triumph 2500 great towing car all up we had three, this one my son is looking at is identical to the last one we had. I fitted air shocks power steering etc plus a large three core radiator for towing during the summer. I sold it real cheap "big mistake" should have kept it.

Looks like something out of the movie "Titfield Thunderbolt"

Great looking tractor! Was there a price tag on it? It should be in a museum for sure. [Smile]

Graham,

The '60 Chevy reminds me of one the lady across the steet had when I was little.

-Concidentally the same lady with the GAF projector who started me on all this stuff!

I'm curious: is this one right hand drive?

What do you tow? We have a small camper: just enough to ride behind a minivan without becoming a pain. Every so often my wife starts to drool over these behemoths you need a truck to pull and I threaten to go back to tenting!

I'm guessing "Duesenberg", barring that: "Packard" (I'm better on '60s cars...)

All I ask is a wide screen and a projector to light her by...

Wayne its not for sale [Smile] nice to see it running though.

Steve
The car is left hand drive.
We had the old Triumph for over ten years, it had a four speed manual with overdrive and used it for towing a small caravan around the country, the kids and I enjoyed it my better half thought different so in time it had to go [Frown]

Dan I didn;t have anything to swap [Smile] I think the name swap meet started thirty years ago when people from car clubs would meet once a year and help each other out for car parts, advice etc it was more of a get together although its still mainly cars/parts a lot of other stuff is now included.

This is an old photo of the interior of our "Triumph" I opened the car door one day and found my son fast asleep.
Note. The sheepskin covers it was a very comfortable car for long distance.
 -
Its not a good photo but thats what we towed around the country the caravan parks were all very good.
 -
One last photo that was taken at the swap meet.
