Hey folks, I need to apologize about something ...

Events on another film forum have forced me to reveal there (and I now do here) a mental dia-ability that afflicts me ...

While I am good at remembering actions and such, I can be very terrible at remembering exact dates on things. It's some form of mild mental disability but it can be embarassing for me.

I offer this apology as, if I have stated that, for instance a film was released on this or that date on super 8 for instance, (or in the case of what was being spoken of on the other forum) I could very well be inaccurate and nine times out of ten, I probably am.

This may seem like a silly thing to confess over this film forum, but I thought it proper.

Though on most things film, I am still quite reliable. [Smile]

Last week I forgot our 32 year wedding Anniversary [Eek!] even thought my better half had reminded me several times that it was coming up in the past. I am useless when it comes to things like that, birthdays an all. [Roll Eyes]

PS. Many moons ago, I worked with a guy who was pretty bad at forgetting things, so he went to the public library and found a book called "How to Improve your Memory"...he read it right through and told me the book was really good. The only thing though...and this is true, he added that after reading it he forgot to take it back. [Roll Eyes]

Graham. [Smile]

I also forgot about Graham's anniversary.

Dates are tough....good thing sites like Amazon and Blue Mountain remind me about upcoming birthdays and events.

I wouldn't worry too much about it Osi, if you talk to Wayne he'll tell you that my concept of time and dates are somehow 1/10 of reality (ie: 1 week = 10 weeks, and so on)..Dates, time? it's all relative right? [Big Grin]

Guys, I tell you, I can't begin to say how much I appreciate your responses, as they did lift my spirits, as I was very uncomfortable about mentioning it.

Though I don't have the actual dates down, (that's not a a joke) I did begin to realize somewhere around ten years ago, (well it was at the turn of the millenium) that I was mentioning dates and such to people and I was tending to be wrong, even about recent dates, and it has only continued to worsen.

I don't think it's early onset alzheimers disease, as I understand that that particular disease doesn't just affect one area. I may have had this condition for quite a long time and I just wasn't called on it until while in college (during the the millenium switch).

But once again, many thanX

Now, does anybody have a print of "Grizzly Adams?"

Grizzly Adams was a man who once was a projectionist hippie.

However, he once had an incident that many a projectionist hippie can identify with.

He was hanging over the projector watching a film. Well, as all projectionish ippies can attest to, long beards can thread into a projector as easily as celluloid.

Not only did he appear to be moving closer to the projector (against his own will) but he started to see the projected image darken with an excessive amount of hairs in the projector and that strange smell of someones hair burning ...

He was unfortunately, never the same.

He wandered off into the wilderness, muttering something along the lines of "damned projector!"

Incidentally, he was screening a print of "Call of the Wild"

Heh heh! No offense I should hope. Now, I have never seen this happen in fact, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened somewhere along the line.

But it is amazing as to how many accidents haven't happened with the film hobby. How many of us, (as well as our Dad's in general) were smoking a cigarette or pipe, dangerously hanging over a projector as they threaded it or ran it?
