Try this one...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15255&item=7504128437&rd=1

WTF? It's only a projector! What do I care who its former owner was? I'm not bidding on that guy, am I? I'm only interested in the machine, aren't I? [Roll Eyes] Meanwhile this seller is going completely gaga about the projector's history - wanna bet the reserve is somewhere in the four-digit range?... It sure wouldn't surprise me... [Roll Eyes]

Good one Jan! Amazing salesmanship! [Big Grin]

Here's one where the seller tells us what a great price he is selling this film for. But don't forget, if it doesn't sell, off to the Salvation Army it goes! [Eek!]

Heres one.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15255&item=7504151579&rd=1

In the title they mention GENTLY USED then go on to say The lady I bought it from said it works fine. Chances are this was not bought from a ole lady but its a polite way to say final sale.
By the way your bidding on a CHONON 4000 GL-CINE PROJECTOR.

"Why yes, dear, it sure works fine... mind you it does chatter quite a bit, and oh! Did I tell you the story of how it ate the film of our vacation in Switzerland? ... No? Well, nevermind dear, it certainly is a temperamental little thing though... but it does work, why when you plug it in it starts throwing sparks right away!" *gentle smile* [Wink]

"Why yes, this fine item was owned by a little old lady who used it to show films at at her church on the weekend. And only short subjects, never more than a reel or two. She would then go home and clean the projector and the films. WD-40? Armor All? No, she used the real stuff."

Jan,

What a beauty! It brings to mind New York Central's 1902 luxury train, the 20th Century Limited.

Is that a pun at 20th Century Fox ? [Smile]

(I just can't get over the "Stereofox" part! Haha! [Smile] )

You know what, I just remembered another eBay auction I saw - don't think I could find it again now, but it was for an Elmo projector, and the seller concluded his description with: "This Elmo will tickle you."

LOL!

Mmhh... Nice... Maybe he's suffering from excessive vinegar sniffing...

Hey, Ugo, look! Your favorite projector is still being auctionned here.
After a starting price of 1000 euros... [Eek!]
After a renewed auction starting at 500 euros... [Eek!]
It is now being offered at 250! (but the seller says he's ready to negociate, phew, what a relief).
Oh, by the way, I paid 5 euros for this baby at a flea market.

Or maybe it just came out of the wash! So few people really clean their items before auction.
The best part is "The pic will purity much tell you about the fujicascope M20".

It's because Fujicascope M20 features a balanced pH that's good for your body. [Big Grin]

Seriously, do people check their texts for typos before posting? Obviously not...

Which makes me think: There's a German lad who sells a lot of fine projection equipment on Ebay France, loads of really neat stuff but quite pricey, and his descriptions (in French - probably translated via Google) always feel like the Hungarian-English phrase book from the Monty Python skit. (I will not buy this record, it is scratched. Will you come to my place? My hovercraft is full of eels).

Out of curiosity, what's the username of that German guy? I probably know him - if he sells stuff on eBay Germany as well.

Jan: It's "boskovitch". He's currently selling an Eumig S940 (drool, drool, drool...) but 600 euros, that's a bit too much.

Dimitrios: another user ID? If that's true then he's violating eBay policy as one is not supposed to have more than one account at a time. eBay is basically a worldwide network of sites, your username and password works the same everywhere whether you visit ebay.com, ebay.de, ebay.fr or even ebay.co.jp (good luck reading the Japanese hieroglyphs though) [Big Grin]

As for boskovitch - how weird! He lists his auctions in French but he's located in Germany? And his real name, according to one buyer's feedback, is Stefan. Could that be Stephan Binder of http://www.super8film.at/ fame?

Boskovitch seems to be in Germany, not Austria. The people from "super8.at" have their own account as, on Ebay.de, the pictures they put online are all identified as coming from their website.
