Are there any members on the forum that attended the 25th
Anniversary of DFS in Blackpool and were you in fancy dress
as requested?

I was certainly there as I've attended every dinner there since 1986. The fact that I'd forgotten the fancy dress request pretty much confirms that I wasn't, I'm afraid!

I'm sure Adrian would have been there as it was in 1990.There
was a long list of guest speakers from various distributors and
Rank Labs, also from our very own Ian O' Reilly of Perry's.Awards
were also given to contributors to FFTC and lots of clips from
Deranns' new releases were shown.I won't go into detail of the
Cabaret act, but the asides flying about were very good, especially
from Ian, who had me creased on the next table, but then I have
a wicked sense of humour.A good night was had and as I asked
earlier,if you attended in fancy dress, own up, there was more
than me in it.

Hugh,
I remember that night well ! What a laugh it was, I can say with hand on heart that was the worst cabaret I have ever seen (murder mystery who done it) I don't know where Derek found him, but he certainly took some stick from our table.
When Derek asked me if I would make a speech and say a few kind words about him I had to think long and hard, I replied to Derek this could the shortest
speech ever!
Joking aside although Derek and I were business rivals we had the greatest respect for each other, Derek referring to me as the "Little Sh*t" and me calling him the "Dudley Spiv" oh what times.
Our monthly meetings and dinners out when Derek came up to London were most enjoyable with banter from start to finish, Derek might be gone but the memories live on.

I miss Derann a lot and Gary in particular. He became a good friend over the years. I wish him the best of luck.

Did we ever find out who actually "did it" Ian,I was convinced it was Phil Sheard, after all,he did handle " da moider weapon"
and his dabs would have been all over it,to hell with the motive
and logic,Phil did it.
I think it was after this little fiasco that Derek opted for more
film shows, it was probably safer.........for him.Myself, I got in the
company of some Irish lads and had a good night, even though I was bristling with weaponry.
