I am thinking of buying a video projector and would welcome any advice on what make and model I should buy .The screen size in my cinema is 12 ft wide and I will be showing mostly b/w dvd films .I was thinking of a Panasonic pt ae6000e but on the specs it says it has a red rich lamp so would b/w films look orange ?

No,I have never observed any issue with B/W images.
It's a superb projector and is going for a song nowadays, since the model is a few years old now Keith.

I doubt you could ever be disappointed from the image obtained from one of these Keith. [Wink]

I agree with Andrew's comments. I have had the Panasonic PT-AE4000U projector for about 4 years now, and everytime I use it I am in awe of its performance. As a lover of old Film Noir movies, my main requirement was that the projector would provide a rich, high contrast black and white image, with very deep blacks and, most of all, zero color tinting. This the Panasonic does in spades. Most projectors these days will provide superb color images, but the test of a great projector is how it does with black and white images. On that score the Panasonic's are at the top of the list.

You guys just know I have to say it...

JVC D-ILA range of projectors.

The best black levels and shadow detail available on any domestic VP, as well great contrast range and superb celluloid-like images.

But, Keith, my best advice would be to find a good quality retailer and book some demonstrations to help you decide. Nothing better than talking to people who sell quality product and are happy to demonstrate and discuss your requirements with you.

BTW, nothing at all wrong with the Panny's...very nice, quality projectors.

Hi guys,

I've been lucky to buy two lcd's from Mark Todd an Hitachi and an NEC - the Hitachi is in one living room with Sky HD linked to it - excellent images and my NEC in my screening room - which is linked to my toshiba Blu Ray and my Yamaha sound DTS processor - both haven't missed a beat yet and I'm very pleased.
