Ever been asked to come up with a movie that hopefully everyone would like, but no one has seen?.

Well a couple of months ago I was asked if I could do just that for a group of travel agents, that go regular to the movies as a social night out.

I have done this kind of mystery thing before a lot, but this group were going to be a challenge. Last night I went through everything I could think of, as to what might please everybody, anyway thinking back to a 35mm film print I once watched at an art house cinema years ago, a Scottish film called "Dear Frankie" around 2003. At the time the film came and went, but never went to the main stream cinemas....mmmm this could be it I thought.

Its unfortunate I don't have a 35mm print "that would be nice" so it was down to video projection and dvd, its not even out on Blu-ray...drat. Anyway over 12 people turned up tonight armed with pizza etc. I did not tell anyone the name of the movie but as the movie started the dialog was in Italian NOOOOOOOOO you idiot.. I thought. I had pressed the wrong "Language" I had never done something so stupid, so had to start all over again.

Anyway the movie turned out to be a huge hit "in English" with everyone, they were over the moon, some even got the tissues out in some parts and to top it of, no one had ever seen it.

Here are a couple of screen shots when I was setting things up the night before.

Took your recommendation Graham and watched this movie. Beautifully done...story...acting...production...top notch! I did have to use up a few tissues though...it was difficult to keep a dry eye at times...but just loved it. My son Darrin and I have been trying to watch more Indie and non main-stream films lately and I recommended this one to him. Thanks for posting. I can see why your mystery movie audience liked it too [Smile]

Strange how things work out, I had a look through some of my old films and came across a mint 35mm trl of the film yesterday, and by accident also came across a sealed CD of the soundtrack in a second hand Record store when we were out shopping.

Now.. I just need to find the full 35mm feature [Wink]

I think I should open a proper movie theatre [Smile]

Thanks Janice [Smile]

I once had the idea of getting the old Roxy cinema nearby that closed long ago and returning it once again into a single screen cinema. It was a nice building and lay empty for years. As a cinema on its own it would not be worth it, but turning the front half into a café " as a movie theme" during the day, with the rear half as a cinema of around 150 seats. The projection room was and still is spacious and a nice area to set up a modern Kinoton 35/70mm projector, plus a five deck platter etc with modern video projection included.

Anyway to set it up would cost a lot of money, but if one day we win the big one I will do just that and complete with color lights and screen curtains [Roll Eyes] [Cool] [Smile]

Oh! had a listen to the soundtrack this weekend..its very good.
