I am at the hospital. My wife, Stephanie, had a terrible night (Thursday night to Friday morning) with terrible throwing up and then the "dry heaves" for the rest of the night. After that, she fiftfully slept from 7 am to 3:30pm. I got her up when she woke up, to use the bathroom and when I sat her back down on the couch, he had a major seizure. It lasted about two minutes and then I dragged her out of the house, (she was unconscious) to the car and I got her to the hospital in mountain home where we live in less than ten minutes from when she had her seizure.

This was a good thing as, when she had the seizure, the her body went into "reject baby" mode and Baby Thornton's heart rate went down from a health over a hundred to just in the 50's and dropping quickly. They life-flighted her to Boise (40 minutes away), and they had to do an emergency "C" section.

Baby Thornton, who was 8 months along is doing OK. He is on a respirator, but he is on and off of it, which is good as his lungs aren't fully mature yet. He is stable and will in the hospital for possibly a week or more. Stephanie, dear beloved wifey, is starting to stabilize but her heart rate keeps on spiking up, (which was what caused the seizure in the first place. The doctor has already verified that her seizure was largely triggered by her being pregnant, but I suspect it was also largely caused by the overnight "throw-up binge", but then again, the very throw up binge may have been triggered by baby or, perhaps, a really bad 24 stomach flu.

At any rate, I and the wife will be in the hospital for a number of days until she is fully stabilized. I have very good, trusted friends watching our two kids back in Mountain Home.

The doctor stated that it was nearly a miracle that they were able to save both mother and child because often, either one or the other or both die.

I almost lost her guys ... I really almost lost my wife and baby. I feel close to you folks so I hope I'm not going to far posting this, but being that we will be at the hospital for a number of days, if you don't hear from me ... you'll know why.

Please lift up our Stephanie and baby Thornton up in prayer.

Kevin, Stephanie, Devin, Heather and Baby Thornton Osgood

My prayers are for you Osi. I am sure that all members will do the same and wish that all goes well.
The birth of my Great Grandson was a very worrying time a couple of years ago. I am pleased to say that he is now a bouncing and happy two-year old.

Osi - Very sorry to hear about these recent events. I just hope that in 10 years time you can look back on this as just a blip on the beautiful landscape of life and not as the crisis that it currently is. Forget the Super 8 for now..... it's Super Family time.

Dear Osi,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and all your family at this traumatic time.

I pray and hope that you will eventually all come through this incredibly difficult and challenging situation sooner rather than later and that you can then all resume your normal family life with the addition of another cherished child to love and nurture too.

God bless you and yours.

Ali.

Osi you and your family have been through a very traumatic experience. I can only pray that no adverse effects will present themselves in the future for both your wife and newborn. You are blessed to have handled the situation so rapidly and let's hope time and medical care will put this all behind you. Keep us updated when you can...you will be in our thoughts.

I am at a Hospital "PC Kiosk", ( so to speak), so I'll give you an update ...

Stephanie hasn't had her first walk yet. I rolled her in a wheelchair down to the "baby central" an she saw the "nipper" for the first time. She couldn't hold him as she was rather sleepy and we couldn't risk her accidentally dropping her. They are reducing the magnesium in her system, which also inhibits her motor functions. She will be taking her first "walkies" today, and hopefully, we should be out of the hospital in a few days.

The nipper is now breathing on his own, which is an important step.

... as for me, I have to head back to mountain home today, as we have been enrolled in what they call here in the states, "The Ronald McDonald House", a program that allows a family to stay close by the hospital to be around the "infirmed", as long as is necessary. Baby Thornton may be held until the 21st of October, so were talking nearly a month. So I have to get everything done today, pay bills, mow lawn ... ect ect.

I'll pop in occasionally to give updates but as a general rule, will be gone for nearly 30 days or so. The important thing is that both wifey and baby are coming along.

Hi Osi.

Last year my sister suffered sudden meningitis. We are very close and thank goodness she is ok.

Then a colleague at work died very suddenly from cancer. I worked with both her and her partner and the whole thing was devastating for him and the kids.

My Dad has had to go into care this year and my two of my very good friends have been presented the news that one will have to have a kidney transplant and the other will be starting radio therapy.

Worst 12 months ever.

To go back to movies for a moment and quote,

"There comes a point when life stops giving and starts taking away".

Hopefully, when your dearest are better, you are at a point where life is still giving.

I think we just have to remain strong for our friends and family.

Enjoy what we have day to day. Best wishes and stay strong. I'm certain we are all thinking of you here on the forum.

UPDATE ...

We are moved into the Ronald McDonald House, I and the kids,. My wife should be moved in from the hospital to the house tonight, (fingers crossed, as she has some weird blood pressure readings),

... Just got a phone call. She'll be checked out in an hour and a half.

... now, we start the long (possibly almost four weeks in "Mickey D land") waiting process, as our son was early by a month, but at
least, wifey is fully on the mend and baby is doing fine.

I just want to thank all the lovely people on here for all of they're incredible good wishes and much LUV right back to all of you ...

We're in Boise, my film collection is in Mountain Home ...

I miss my collection, the daily unspooling film, the cleaning, the projecting ...

sigh, parted but for awhile ... [Smile]
