Hopefully Josef will read this as he mentioned the regreasing of the gearbox. I have finally broken down my Specto for a spring cleaning of sorts and wanted to know what would be the suggested replacement lubrication for this gearbox? I cleaned out a great deal of hardened black sludge and want to replace it. I thought I remembered Gerald McKee recommending oil, but it seems that would just seep out all of the holes that the spindles stick through..

Dino
I quote from the Specto instruction manual.
"After approximately 20 hours running, a small quantity (approx 10 drops) of XL motor oil should be added to the gearbox. Using an oil can with a long spout, this should be introduced through the aperture into which the rewind lever fits."
If I remember correctly, XL motor oil was known as "SAE 30" here in the UK. The rewind lever just lifts out.
I hope this may be of help to you.
