I have recently bought 2 films - Ivory Hunters is a pathescope release of French origin, not sure of the year but very early, elephant hunting for ivory....and Stag Hunting, another pathescope French release,it's like fox hunting but hunting stags instead. Also the Our Gang films using the word "darkie"- very racist word! But that's how they spoke way back then....

Hi Clinton, The Little Rascals films used to be shown regularly on American TV when I first came to the States in the early 1960's. That is no longer the case. They are never shown now, presumably no longer regarded as being politically correct. People still love them though whenever I play them at a film show.

In my modest view political correctness is an attempt to erase history or at least edit it into something else by those who seek power. All those little films are part of cinema history now and should be treasured. I projected an episode of the Black and White Minstrel Show at NWFF and only one chap came up to me saying I should not project that, but everyone else was enthralled. Just about every time I walk into town I say morning to all sorts of people so I don’t think watching Little Black Sambo cartoons has had any effect on me? Steve the Horse is another matter though!
Keep projecting cinema history in order to preserve our own history, we can but learn from it.
