It's a grand old word 9.5mm sound
This feature holds special memories for me as I worked with Sandy Powell in the 70s in my entertainment youthful years
Sandy was a lovely man long story.
The film is a rare look at variety and funny.
After working with Sandy as a kid on stage Dad projected the film on the Vox as he had never seen it at our home. I still have that print. The joys of being a child entertainer.

A newly acquired French short : En Chine méridionnale (In Southern China). Fascinating travel documentary. The camera travels on a steam train and shoots view of (as expected from the title) China. We later see streets scenes and even a Chinese woman showing her mutilated foot. The precise date is unknown. The 9.5 Encyclopaedia says the '30s. There is no live sound record, nor narration. Surrimpressed intertiles gives some informations and the soundtrack consists of music. Several scenes show people moving too fast, which indicates the film was originaly shot as silent. This film is the only with sound that comes from a French collector who died. His two sons are selling his collection. I received a list on which were some sound titles, but some I laready had and the others (except the Chinese travel film) could not be located by the two sons. I still have the silent films to watch, but my sound projector is on place, so that will be for when I change for a silent one.

“Belphegor” the Pathescope U.k. 2 reel version before parting with it, using the Specto 500 dual gauge projector. It is a condensed version of a French serial. Also copied it to a dvd so that I can have another look at it if I ever want to. It appears that the original serial had a very confusing plot. A bit like some of the modern tv crime serials!!

Just watched what I think is a fairly rare title called LE TEMOIN SILENCIEUX (1924, aka The Silent Accuser 4x SB 4526) starring Eleanor Boardman and Peter the Great..A decent low budget feature about a falsely accused man and his dog trying to prove his innocence. Lots of good action scenes with the dog, but Boardman is sort of wasted here, and the editing cuts an important plot point where the trio has to track down the real killer...

Another somewhat rare one or at least unidentified one. OU EST BEBE? ( 5 x G3053 aka STORK MAD, 1926) a Bobby Ray Comedy where a baby gets dropped on their doorstep and they accidentally lose the child and face scrutiny from the police until? The baby reappears right in their house. The 9.5 print is almost entirely from the second reel of the original. There is a good sequence w/ Ray out in the streets hanging onto a beam on the back of car that allows him to do some humorous "jumps" off the pavement.
