  • Elmo ST1200 Auto-threader issue.

Apologies if this has been covered before. Feel free to point me in the right direction. However I have recently picked up a mint Elmo ST-1200D that I'm reviving. My eyesight however isn't what it once was and I'm having trouble diagnosing an issue. The issue is that the auto-threader keeps popping up when trying to thread films. This causes the tape heads to close as the film is loading and jams the film causing it to get munched. Most issues I've read seem to be the opposite where the auto-threader won't release. In the stop position it seems to lock okay and release when the relay tab at the take-up is pressed. Once you put the motor in drive however it won't stay down and keeps randomly popping up. Any help or assistance would be appreciated. Thanks Joel.

Try holding it down during auto load until the film comes up to the take up reel. Next use the auto load release button to confirm release of autoload mode.

Here we go. For those out there that ever get this I found the culprit. The screw alignment for the Auto-load lever was loose. This meant that when the lever was pressed down the relay that locks the shaft in wasn't properly locking in. See the attached image. Once I adjusted this the slide mechanism fully went down and the locking mechanism engaged. Once the film threads to the take up reel the rear switch is tripped and the relay releases the auto-load mechanism properly. I hope this post helps others. Joel

Just for kicks I've attached some pictures of the projector so you guys can see how mint this unit is. Sadly it doesn't do Optical but considering I only paid $40 dollars Australian for it I'm not complaining!

Hello All and Merry Christmas. Here is an idea for some film labels. I downloaded the filmshot off the internet and printed some sheets for each of the four reels label 1-4. Excuse my crappy handwriting and let us know how the pictures look on your computer. Thought it might give others an idea for your own.
