Hello I am new to the board and am sorry if these have been answered before. I did find the archive and some were posted but for some reason I am unable to send messages to the very users who have the same problems / questions that I do.
Anyway, I just purchases a like new Chinon 2500 GL from eBay. It runs great and it is quiet which I like. But I have these questions....
1) Sometimes, when engaging the F (forward) setting the unit hums but will not pull film through. Backing it off to R (reverse) and then back to F fixes the issue every time. It was posted and suggested a while back that the rubber belt might need to be changed. Thoughts?
2) Are there any diagrams on where to lubricate this unit once I pull the back off?
3) What is the trick to get the lens out? I pull it straight out away from the gate and it just stops. It's as if it is the furthest out while adjusting the zoom. What am I missing on this?
4) The auto take up reel doesn't work very well. The film tends to curl up in front of the reel rather than following the contour on the backside and then 'grabbing' the reel. I have to stop operation and manually wrap it around the reel then turn it back on to F. Oftentimes it won't come on (see 1) above) then I have to move it to R then back F.
Also, general feedback on FilmGuard? I would like to lubricate my film letting it pass between folds of lens tissues or similar. Thoughts on application? Thanks in advance for your help.
