I'm not 100% sure, but I think it may have originated out of Powell Films back in the day, I kinda remember one of there adverts mentioning this title

Hi folks. Thanks for every ones input for what started as a bit of a mystery. It is much appreciated. Its great to draw on such a wide range of accumulated knowledge. Hopefully with the the all the folks input the forum members can make their call on whether the film is for them. Every one has their collecting preferences - we just put it out out there, and at least its been saved from the skip (which was where it was going along with the rest of this collection - another near miss)

You need to calm down Ossie members are permitted to pass opinion on all sorts of subjects this site without that sort of criticism. It’s quite ridiculous behaviour.

We were all only trying to help John find out the answer to his original question "Who released it?" not judge them.

Legitimate smidgemite! It exists on super 8 and isn't so danged bad! Be Happy and say "thanks" to those who loved the film so much that they would print it on super 8, no matter what the bloody stock!

Ah, I see! The black edging rather than clear is a bit of a giveaway for it not being a legitimate print.

Do you know what film stock it is on that could help. Various labs used certain stocks and some distributors used only one lab.

One of those under the counter jobs we don’t talk about. You know Derann weren’t saints 😇.

My print wasn’t bad I got it from Derann second hand. It’s not as good as Lust for a Vampire and not in the same room as Twins of Evil but not bad. I’ll stick to Blu ray.

Thanks for the information Brian. Yes that listing is ours hence my question as we couldnt find any information either. It came as part of a large collection from the estate of a horror/sci fi collector. We have provided a range of screenshots and condition description but cant attribute it to a distributor. So we will leave it to potential bidders to decide their interest in this one

I would beware …. Definitely a dupe. Notice the color shift… I predict there’s a splice every 50’. If this was officially released I would know.

    Def not Derann!

Hi all! There is no official super 8 release of The Vampire Lovers... except for a trailer. Unlike the other two Karnstein films, Lust for a Vampire and Twins of Evil - for which there were features and digests (Derann & Walton, respectively). I once had a 4 X 400' bootleg of VL in the 70's (from a bootlegger in Louisville) that was awful quality and that Italian release is clearly an unauthorized dupe.

I think it was Derann. Good print a bit grainy in places but covered the story very well.
