For the past several months I have engaged film services in Italy to produce multiple Super 8mm digests for me. Since I have now received them I wanted to provide an update for everyone on the forum about these super 8mm services!!
I couldn't be happier with the final result and for my purposes these prints are just fine. The most important thing I can say is the price is very reasonable and includes striping (dual track) and recording to your film. The images are nice and have excellent color. For the home enthusiast and collector I would strongly recommend that you look into these services if you would like your own super 8mm print of a digest you have dreamed of having. Edit it yourself - send them the file!
I decided that I wanted 5 more prints in addition to the 200' JAWS print I received a long while ago. They did such a great job on JAWS that I wanted to see what this company would do with the additional edits I have done. All edits used high definition resources and from that I provided MP4 files. They use a process to print directly from a 2K image onto Super 8mm stock.
They created this work flow process over a period of about 4 years - as I understand - and much of the equipment has been customized to produce these super 8mm prints. It's nice to know that we collectors have options when choosing who to produce our new features and digests.
Here are some images from the most recent prints - actual projection looks much sharper and improved so I apologize for the quality of these images from my iphone :
