Need Help with 8mm Transferring

Recently bought a Wolverine Film2digital Movie Maker. Some 8mm slides go straight through converting with no issues. Some slides take longer with the maching not going through at the correct rate for transferring, pausing instead of being continuous. Sometimes I have to stop the machine. Sometimes when I turn it back the machine back on it works better for a little and sometimes it doesn't. I'm guessing it must be the quality of certain slides. Is there any way to improve the quality of the slide or the machine itself to have it go through at the correct conversion speed without getting stuck every so often. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
