  • Microscope RPI Lenses

    In the past saw several projects using the microscope lenses successfully so wanted to present the data that I have so far.
    T-scan project uses a microscope lens. Here are a few links for the project:

    The lens used with t-scan is a Pimoroni microscope lens and it has pretty good reviews.

    Some of the t-scan video samples indicate that there was an issue with lens pink glow (shadowing).

    Search for "lens"
    The pink glow happens when the long focal length lens is attached to the sensor designed for short focal length.
    But apparently the issue does not exist with the new RPI HQ camera.

    The image is nice and sharp but there is some flicker due to real time scan.

      Hey! I still have that lens, and camera I bought for a microscope. That was in the pre-Hawkeye days.

          I just spent some time looking for any captures I made, no success so far. I'll just make something new.

          It might be a couple days. I think this will be useful, this lens is still available. Seems like it can use both an M or C mount.

              I used the USB connection and the Windows camera app to save time. I also wanted to use Kamel's S8 test frame, but could not find it.

              there is plenty of magnification and I included Max and Min shots with a fit frame of S8.

              The image is from a $10 Us bill. The lens has a fixed aperature. Windows camera app set the exposure and white balance and these are as taken. 1920x1080 is all that comes out of the usb port or HDMI. 4K if saved to the card.

              All these pictures might not be aligned well. Done on a table with a copy stand holding the camera. It was very fiddly!

              Hope that helps! I could do this with Sony DSLR to check for distortions caused by lens to sensor distance, if interested. I have a Cmount adapter.

                That came out very nice David. Thank you for sharing. Looks like this lens is a good choice. The c mount will also fit the ImagingSource c mount cams.
