Also Patron of the British Film Collectors Convention. I spoke to him and his wife Linda at the joint BFCC/TPTV event last year. Sadly missed!

One of his favourite series of films he collected was the Basil Rathbone "Sherlock Holmes" films, I'm glad to say I tracked a couple down for him back in the day. A very nice pleasant man, and very easy to talk too, he will be missed.

He was a great film enthusiast. I only saw him once at a Derann open day in Dudley. In the auction he bought a copy of the 3 x 400’ The Road to Bali with Bing and Bob.

I enjoyed him in "Last of the Summer Wine", where he appeared for the last number of seasons. RIP.

I had the pleasure of working on a concert with him at the congress theatre Eastbourne back in the 90s, that involve film projection.
After the dress rehearsal there was several hours to kill before the actual performance. He asked me if I would allow him up into the projection room.
I spent a couple of hours with him teaching how to lace up the DP70 projector, and then starting the show. He seemed so genuinely grateful to have this opportunity and experience, especially when you are projecting onto a 120 ft screen.
He was a lovely man and will be missed by many.

Here's (not very good) photo I took of Brian sitting next to his wife at the St Albans BFCC last year.

A familiar face at the Ealing conventions. As Brian has said, he was the conventions patron. BBC news ran an obituary to him yesterday. I always remember him making me and my late sister laugh in "George & Mildred" when we were little kids; our favourite scenes were of him sitting in bed eating pickled onions out of a jar!
