Screw archives, quite frankly, if an archive wants to archive it, and the production company wasn't wise enough to properly copyright and keep it in copyright, then let them bid on it like everyone else, and a big show of thanks to the seller for putting it up for auction, and he has every right to market it on any "platform" he wants.

The BBC does not have to copyright any production here it is automatic. Also the production company might not own the whole production. Look at the trouble the BBC is having with their old version of 1984 and the estate of the book's author.
