    Hi, all,

well, Iv'e not posted in a while due to being mega busy as a member of front-line NHS mental health services...its been a nightmare as I specifically support all the brilliant nurses and medical staff with their stress/work management and try and keep them afloat.

Anyway, back to the new Bond movie - I went t see it last Sunday as a treat from my son.

Firstly, It was the first time I have ever seen Daniel Craig in the role - yes, sorry. I've never ever got around to it before although I've always admired him - Craig - as an actor.

My personal favourite has always been Roger Moore followed closely by Pierce Brosnan.

"No Time to Die"...well I did actually enjoy it as a pretty good actioner, ( with some nice sensitivity) - although in my opinion, and patrons in our cinema, it was way, way overlong and would be better with a re-edit down to max 110-120 minutes.

I was quite impressed with Craig although do agree with Tom on many of his observations with regard to "PC" elements. It will be interesting to see how the bring a NEW Bond (actor) to the role or even how they will carry the series on. ( do not want to reveal spoiler...although you would have to have lived on Mars to not know the ending!).

Bond theme...there is a good subject for a thread...yes, I thought it was nice and sensitive to the theme of the film...also "all the time in the world" the theme tune from O.H.M.S.S was nice to play out to...interesting a them tune now used twice in two Bond Movies?!?!

My favourite theme tunes are the big bold John Barry arrangements...although I did like "View to a Kill".

Just to finish...I wasn't overly impressed with the lengthy pr-title opener...way too long and no where near as good as the opening to Roger Moore's..."Spy Who Loved Me".

    Anyway take care all.

I'm hoping to get back to Orlando, Florida in June next year after it being postponed twice!

    Mark

Daniel Craig as Bond, just doesn't do it for me, i've tried to watch these "new " bonds, and he's more wooden than an "ikea" sideboard, he has one expression, and that's just dull, one dimensional, pc, its more like a Tom Cruise action adventure now, and the the theme tunes, ha ha ha, adele's "scaffold" theme tune, who picks these songs now, again it has to be "right on" for it to work, i'm sorry i won't be going to watch it or standing in queue with me autograph book anytime soon....................

Well put Paul, agree with you on the poor choice of song, anyway, after the long wait it has now been viewed, i just hope they get back to Bond how it should be, sadly, i dont think it will though.

I hope they don’t go back, Die another day was terrible. I know it’s always down to personal taste wether you like a film or not, I think casino royal and skyfall are 2 of the best bonds ever made, quantum of solice being one of the worst. I also did not find it that woke, yes they had a black 007 but she was not that well written. Look at grace jones, now there is strong character.

by go back i dont mean a few years, i mean they need to go back to the roots of James Bond and keep within the character he was written as. Not the sensitive modern man he's portrayed in this latest outing.
I'm not condemning the film, there's plenty of action, but this is not James Bond. Anyone who thinks it is, clearly hasn't watched the Connery, Moore, Dalton or Brosnan Bonds Everyone has a favourite but my point is, James Bond films should avoid being PC, its pretty ridiculous and in some parts, cringeworthy.

As far as British "secret agent" films, I sort of jumped from watching the Roger Moore films during the 70-80s to this one.... Oh! I should add I did skip the ones in between .

I think this guy should be the next James Bond, he would be good at it

Very good Graham, cant see the 2021 Mr Bond getting away with kicking Granny's wheelchair away like Johnny English, this is one ive not seen but now will look out for it on the telly.

Don't be surprised if they go even more "PC" and make the next Bond ... A woman!

With that becoming a real possibility.......remember...... Ian Fleming wrote about James Bond.

                    Not Jane Bond.

Just got back from seeing Craig in his fifth and final outing as 007 James Bond. I liked it quite a bit and I have seen all the Craig Bond films. Ranking them for me I would say --

                      SKYFALL
CASINO ROYALE and NO TIME TO DIE
                      SPECTRE
                      QUANTUM OF SOLACE

In that order, for me. SKYFALL is really the best Craig Bond and it hits on all levels I think. NO TIME TO DIE is good and I agree that maybe should have topped out at no more than 135 minutes or so but I wasn't bored (like I got with Spectre). By the way i NEVER get tired of seeing that Aston Martin DB5. Never.

Now that Craig is done as Bond it will be interesting to see what they do next. As far as a women playing James Bond - give me a break!! Bond is a guy. A man. And not a PC man either - he's a product of the 1950s/60s because that is the way he was written. I love watching female spies kick butt and shoot 'em up. But a woman can never be Bond. James Bond!

Exactly!! Anyone who thinks differently must have a screw loose.

Perhaps get Eddie Izzard to play him next time, you can kill two birds with one stone..............

                              Paul,
brilliant, mind you, nothing would surprise me these days.
I guess we're lucky to have grown up with Bond how he should be and know all the Bonds.

Graham, perhaps Johnny English should be the next Bond, mind you with the line, "there French cyclists", i guess that may have to be edited out to make it PC

BTW, regarding No time to die, this was an article in the express paper back along by one of the films female stars,

"JAMES BOND star Léa Seydoux, who plays Madeleine Swann in No Time To Die has revealed she hates political correctness, has called out the "hypocrisy" of the Me Too movement and believes women enjoy seeing 007 as a sex object".
At last, someone with an opinion of there own instead of "fitting in". Good on her.
