  • Vinyl Goldmine

Funny to see this on the NZ news, as I visited a record store just yesterday, they say that "great minds" think alike, someone in the news room must have been reading mine ha ha .

Going through my vinyl goldmine yesterday, I came across this classic from 1982, could be worth a lot on e-bay don't you think?

"Suzi Quatro", well this lady lives in England and is still doing concerts. I remember hearing "Can The Can" being played all the time on the good ship "Australis" about a million years ago. This album is from 1980.

Indeed she does Graham. Ms Quatro lives in a farmhouse in Essex near Stansted airport - about 25miles from where I used to live.

FYI - she also appeared in an episode of Minder in the early 80s playing - a 'rock-chic'!

It might not be a goldmine but I have certainly enjoyed playing these old LP records today. I was surprised to come across them in a second hand shop a while back, apart from the cover on "The Island" the LPs were in excellent condition. I seem to have returned back to Vinyl more and more these days. I find the sound quality much better to listen to with my ears. When we watch a movie, I don't think we fully appreciate the music as its often mixed with other sounds. But when I listen to just the soundtracks like today, that's when you can really hear how good it actually is.

They used to have those 22 hits albums, but they "K-tel" records here in the U.S., but at 22, they were a good deal!

Graham - I had the very same single ! I also had their Greatest Hits Lp many moons ago (.... or is this the one that is still deep in the back of my cupboard?)

The fun thing with these recordings are if you really slow them down, one can here two men singing normally. Quite amusing.

Yes, having a very old turntable that had 16 2/3 rpm (I believe that was for talking books for the blind) can have advantages.

This track has always made me smile, it's very clever, especially the explanation at the end.
