Have to agree re keeping Bond a chap if possible.

And there are planty of great shows with Strong Ladies in.

Just watched, The Queens Gambit on Netflix, Superb.

Also Happy Valley from the UK is amazing, but there are so many where women just get on with good drama, comedy etc.

Forgot to say saddest Bond for me Majesty`s. Not the latest one.

I suppose re Bond Villains Gert Frobe ( Gold Finger ) is very hard to beat.

    Best Mark.

PS Steve your Bondey night at 5 years old sounds amazing !!!

      Hi Mark,

It just may be that it made a bigger impression on me than all of Kindergarten!

Bond movies for me are From Russla With Love with the truly terrifying shoe dagger, followed by Goldfinger

Yes that Kleb woman was a bit serious Rob.

She just had a look about her too.

Drive ins are very rare in the UK steve, though I did hear one or two happened in the pandemic using phones ? for the audio, anyone know more ?

          Best Mark.

The speakers on poles have mostly gone by the wayside. It wasn't rare for them to be stolen (even if they had to cut a braided steel cable) or for an absent minded patron to try to leave with them still hanging in the window (-ouch!). A bunch of poles standing in the dark with a bunch of cars with tired drivers doesn't seem a really great idea either. Besides, they required the field to have a network of underground wiring and this caused no end of headaches as it aged. The drive-in I know best has a couple still installed at the back of the field, maybe for nostalgic customers.

Mine is real, but not vintage. A diecasting company still makes them from original designs. I've wired it into the external speaker port on an ST-1200HD: it sounds good and it has style! (-and it's weatherproof if for some odd reason that matters...)

Modern drive-ins here are usually FM stereo, but I suppose it would be possible to do something through cellphones with WiFi too. It might even be cheaper.

I actually saw two Connery Bonds at Drive-Ins. I saw "Never Say Never Again" at the last surviving local drive-in before it too became a shopping mall, but by then I was driving the car!

              Hi all,

I've never been a "massive" Bond fan but my favourite "Bonds" were...

              1/ Roger Moore
              2/Pierce Brosnan
              3/George Lazenby

              And film wise..

1/ The Man with the Golden Gun. (Primarily because Christopher Lee was brilliant and made that movie.)
2/ On Her Majesty Secret Service. ( Pound for pound I think was the best of all the Bond films for excitement and the James Bond performance itself
3/ Tomorrow Never Dies . ( Pierce Brosnan is excellent).

We ought to have had favourite baddies because lets face t these were often the performances that "made" a James Bond movie. My favourites were

1/ Christopher Lee as Francisco Scaramanga
              2/ Gert Frobe (Goldfinger)
3/ Christopher Walken (Fabulous actor). (View to a Kill)

              Best to all

              Mark

Good list, Mark! I grew up with Pierce Brosnan, so I have a particular attachment to him in the role. I think he carries the perfect balance of the role.

I suspect that, like people with Dr Who, my choice is the first film and actor I saw - Goldfinger and Sean Connery.

Goldfinger Sean Connery series with Connery peaked at this point.

OHMSS George Lazenby most intelligence story

Goldeneye. Pierce Brosnan. Relaunched the franchise and was great Bond.

Roger Moore films were basically jokes akin to Carry On movies. Nice guy liked him in other stuff but couldn’t pull the trigger of a gun without blinking and was way too old when he started never minded ended. Ironically. A View to a Kill was on of the better ones.

Timothy Dalton didn’t leave much of an impression and his two movies would be the least watched.

Daniel Craig good actor liked him in Defiance and Munich but his Bond movies are tepid at best. Not his fault more the screenwriting deficiencies. The fact they did so well at the box office is more to do with so little competition and the abundance of. Endless Sequels Fast and Furious how many are we up to now and Star Wars & Marvel franchise 💩 churned out like everlasting slurry. I would say Skyfall was his best. Good story and killed off the annoying Judi Dench as M. 😂😂😂.

I didn’t go to cinema to see Time to Kill which is a first for me from Spy who Loved Me. I won’t set foot in a commercial cinema until 😷 fascists take themselves off so i will enjoy in glorious Blu ray in my own cinema.

My intro to Bond was also at the Drive-Inn during the early 70s. From memory it was a double header of Gold Finger and Diamonds are forever. But it could also have been Dr No and Diamonds are forever…

My favourite films in no particular order are:
                      - Gold Finger
                      - Dr No
                      - Spy who loved me

                      Favorite actors:
                      - Connery
                      - Moore
                      - Brosnan

I never favoured Craig as Bond - he didn’t have enough charm to pull it off in my opinion. Also did not favour Dench as M.

I hear strong rumours that Henry Cavill is to be the next Bond…

I just looked up Henry Cavill and it also showed up Tom Hardy, who has been knocking about in our area recently in a cafe etc.

If they give it to Tom Hardy it would be superb.

If you`ve not seen " Taboo ", check it out. One of the most amazing TV shows I`ve seen.

Though sadly looking as if no sequel.

Tom would be a great choice.

                        Best Mark.

I think time has passed for Tom Hardy. He was in the frame when they selected Daniel Craig. When I watched Henry Cavill in Man from Uncle I thought he could be good as Bond. Robert Vaugh in his prime in Man from Uncle would have been a great Bond. Never knew Ian Fleming did a lot of initial writing for Man from Uncle series. The similarities are there to be seen.
