  • The curzon collection remembered (new video)

Just came across this on Youtube - a new video tour of The Curzon Collection of Cinema Technology by the late curator of the collection Maurice Thornton:

Great. They were much happier days.

So glad that I visited before the closure. Pure magic for any enthusiast and I will always remember the late great Grahame Newnham giving a live 9.5 show there. The staff running the Curzon were fantastic and knowledgeable also. Such a pity it had to close.

I also visited it some years ago. It is so sad that it closed. Fortunately we still have The Projected Picture Trust and The Cinema Theatre Association but it does appear that most of the younger generations are not interested. Most amateur film making clubs are struggling to keep going due to lack of new members. Ken Finch.

The video ends with with Maurice saying "Sadly, the collection is no longer with us". More sadly, nor is Maurice who died a couple of years ago aged 90 after a short illness.

I was able to buy the 16mm Bolex (which was briefly shown), and two Pathescope Son sound projectors and the silent Pathescope Gem which is seen working.
