    Paul,

I know that's Walt Disney, however I have no idea what camera that is. I have seen the picture before, but never in color!

      Hello Doug!

The camera Walt is holding is a Bell & Howell Filmo 141 'Art-Deco' magazine-loading 16mm camera. The camera used the new Kodak 50ft magazine load film.
The 141 camera had a Bakelite body.

The 141-A had speeds of 8, 16, 24 and 32 frames per second. It would do single frames. It has a 133 degree shutter giving an exposure time of 1/43 second at 16 fps. No turret model was made.

The camera was on the market for 3 years starting in July 1937, ending in 1940 when B&H introduced the all metal body 'Auto Load' models.

We have some great research people on this forum. Looks like Charlie nailed it. If Walt bought his camera in 1937 this would have been about the time he was working on Snow White.

So if Walt Disney shot 16mm on his own time, do they still count as "Disney Films"?!

          -nice catch, Charlie!

On the other hand an old Standard 8 film I own has "Walt Disney Home Movies" on the back of the box, but it is a copy of Donald Duck in "Clown of the Jungle" not one of his 16mm B&H films.

                Hi Paul,

hope you and family are well.

I actually, and genuinely...at first site thought it was Derek Simmonds on holiday or something? The resemblance is remarkable!

Well Derek did release a lot of SUper 8 Disney full features and shorts. I wonder if he would have got the deal earlier, when Walt was alive, if Walt had seen the resemblance?

George Formby had a couple of later models one of which I'm the proud owner of along with his 16mm home movies on Kodak. Ironically Derek was a Formby fan as well hence the wealth of S8 releases.
