Well its been a all film day at the Heritage Park good crowds up here for the long weekend of trains from down South. The Westar is running like a dream at the moment, with such 35mm prints including a stunning color print of "The Old Mill" and the like included. I took my tape splicer along and everyone was welcome to give it a go and they did, gave away strips of film at least 24 frames from the trailer "Chicken Little". One English couple were fans of Tina Turner, so I mentioned stay to the end of one reel and you will see the full musical number of her singing from ""Beyond The Thunderdome" promo which they really enjoyed watching. Included were a couple of ads, some trailers like Jurassic Park, on mixed reels, giving I hope, something for everyone
Well just one more day and that's it for the school holidays down at the park. The Westar has been busy running like a swiss watch, plus the reel of bits and pieces about 13 minutes I am using at the moment has worked out well. Today as an example I open the projector up while its running so folk can record its running on there phones, plus before they disappear I get the kids to do me a favour and re-wind the film on the hand winders, another chance for the parents to record it on there phone. Its quite funny to watch, as after a while they get tired and things get slower, I usually add you can go faster, that gets a smile, but I always thank them afterwards for helping. Today was interesting talking to a family who had just immigrated to NZ from Israel, I did mention that its always hard leaving family and friends behind, but given time this country can offer a lot, it just takes time to settle down. I did wish them all the best. Another couple, were film makers from overseas here on a short visit, they were very interesting folk to talk to. So there you have it, its not all about film and projectors, it can be other things
A couple of the shorts included on this weekends Westar reel were "Blinkers" and finishing with "Rabid Rider", shown below running through the Ernemann a while back
