Since the demise of the original 24V 200W ESC bulb for the Elmo GS1200 the choice for most GS owners has been to use the 24v 200w EJL lamp. This is a lamp designed for 16mm projectors and it is noticably dimmer than the original ESC lamp. Some of us however have switched to using the 24v 250w ELC lamp in the GS1200, using an external 24v power supply, and with the ELC moved back by 10mm from the original ESC lamp position. The result is an extremely bright and evenly illuminated picture, even brighter than the original ESC, which makes the EJL look very dim in comparison.

so I would need an external power supply if I decide to use the ELC bulb

Jim, EJL lamps work fine in the GS1200 because they are exactly the same voltage and wattage as the original Elmo ESC lamp. But they are not as bright because the EJL filament is not as compactly wound as the ESC. So the rating for lamp brightness in the GS1200 (lowest to highest) is EJL, ESC. ELC with external power supply). Of course I am not including the Xenpow HID lamps or HTI lamps in this discussion, just the incandescent Halogen lamps.
