Yep it’s all over the place out of sequence and repeats 🤔

Joe why is Two Tars shown in 1st post on two reels when it is only 21 minutes film and versions I have seen for Blackhawk have been in one reel and box. Is it striped stock that made it too big for 400ft reel?

Another thing that I found (forget which site had it!) is a sound version of it with lip-synced sound of L&H talking.

Send us the link for that one. It one of the silent that would have been brilliant as a talkie.

Joe it’s in that pile under that old movie Hats Off 😂 Very common that one.

According to this website, it was planned as a 3-reeler, but got reduced to two reels before release (in cinemas):

Thanks Joerg that explains that query. I see the shoe shine photos indicate a possible planned or edited scene.

There’s a German „talkie“ version of Two Tars on YouTube:

We have to understand that many segments might have been filmed, then scraped...other times, simply a publicity still..also remember that, not all 400' reels come to exactly twenty minutes, not does a 200' reel equal ten...Mine is a full 400', however when measured on another reel that has the various lengths printed, it arrives at a bit over 500', complete with the darn-near original titles, naval ship footage and that delightful Wm. Perry score, right to the railroad fade-out...so given the state of silent films, we're lucky Blackhawk gave us what Roach had left...mine can clock in at 24, and it's another nice mess .. Fraternally, Shorty...Oh, and an olive green box to boot, later print, maybe a tad better pre-print

                              Morning, Shorty!

It's interesting that Blackhawk never used 600'(and larger) reels. (-or did they ever?)

I understand that a smooth reel change is part of the Art of this hobby, then again especially for a short it's nice to be able to start the movie, prop yourself up on the couch with a pillow and just enjoy!

My The Music Box showed up from E-bay united on an 800 foot steel reel in one of those green canvas covered boxes with fabric straps: I kind of like it that way too!

16 mil prints were/are a bit easier ..for Super and Std 8 mil 600' subjects, I try to locate the 2x400' on a 600' reel. Somewhat successful... Still searching
