Attendance is low. I don't understand the mentality of people. This is a true different experience. If they would only give it a chance. But instead, they might assume it is tape oir DVD and why go out when they can do that or Netflix at home.....

I don't know how long it will last. I put a good effort in to the managing side of it. So if I decide to pack it in, I'll just stop posting on the community web page but I will keep the movies in the back yard. I have a circle of friends who do come each week. Not only that, the screen at 5 x 12 feet is the biggest one I have ever owned while collecting super 8. So I am at least having fun anyhow. So at the end of the day it is night time - and Florida weather is usually great for this kind of thing.....

These add sheets are easy to create.

Just imagine you work for a cinema company in the promotions department. Your task is to create the artwork add for the newspapers....

Search Google for the movie poster.
Select the best one for the purpose.
Save it on the hard drive.
                Import to the word processor.
Size it down to fit the page.
Use two columns. One for the poster - the other for the text.

When working with MS Office you can not save the screen as a JPG specifically.
But you can press CNTRL + Print Screen (next to F 12) and save the screen image in memory.

From there save the clip again on the hard drive.
Use a photo program to edit the image.
In edit mode, crop out all the junk from the screen image.
This includes the Windows task bar and the MS Office banner across the top of the screen.
Remember you took a SNAPSHOT OF THE SCREEN. So edit out parts of the screen that don't belong.
Save the image with the photo program as a small JPG image.

You are now free to post whereas on the web.

As for copyrights that might be shown, it is wise to consider it and select a non marked image for your project. However keeping in mind "public domain" access by nature of the WWW it should not be a problem. Besides you are doing this for fun and you probably aren't making money off of it anyhow.....

I only wish that we could post an image HERE without having to add text to do it. Especially when the photo has enough on it to do the job of the text.

Chip, it’s a shame you don’t get a better turnout. If I was near I would come but I’m in the UK. Keep on flying the flag for film and best wishes for a fun packed film season.

Thanks Phil your comment is greatly appreciated. I don't know what's going on. It is of course free at all times. But attendance has been so poor if it was a business I'd be bankrupt. It's winter in Florida and I do live in a retirement community. So perhaps it's too cold for others to leave the house at night, never mind sitting outside to watch a movie.

Last year my opening was delayed due to screen issues. I only had about 3 weeks or so when it was solved before it got too hot and buggy. Looking forward to opening back in November - the holiday season was first followed by the cold pattern we have now.

If anything I am learning and perhaps I will find in the next few months that my season is better shorter - when less hectic and warmer. It just might turn out to be that February through early May is best.

One thing is for sure I am no quitter. No plans to throw in the towel on this project. If I find that nobody wants to come I'll enjoy it myself. I am blessed to have a somewhat back yard that I can be proud of. And I do like watching a movie outside once in awhile.

                        Cheers from across the Pond!
