I just saw a version of this on Super 8 full feature MAGNETIC with Rick Moranis.
I thought they only came out with this on an optical/airline print? Anyone want to comment?
Bootleg?

I know of one collector who got a Optical print striped and re-recorded. It could be that one I dont know of any pirate copies of that title.

Hello Alan

Is it the later [c1980] version or the original from around 1964? the latter was released in B/W and of course magnetic sound.

Mike.

Sorry, just read your posting again and see that it had Rick Moranis in it which would make it the later version.

Yes Mike, I have heard that same story. As far as I know they were released only in optical sound so yes it probably was striped a re recorded.

This film is listed on Paul Foster's site for £119.99 as a rare stereo magnetic print with original label

Hi yes and sold like a shot I hear. It was a one off striped by Derann and re-recorded into Stereo for the owner by someone with the know-how..
Apparently it was a beautiful colour and condition print.
While I`m on Paul is a Star, and surprised me with his kindness to me this week. If your reading thanks Paul.
Nice chap, Great dealer.
best Mark.

So...thats who bought it before I could get it!
Well, in case you decide that you don't want it because it wasn't as good as you remember, you know who to email to sell it to!
Enjoy!

Guys, I know of another!!
I had my print striped too but you can only apply laminate stripe to those optical prints as the paste stripe will not stick. That said when I last ran LSOH I used the DVD 5.1 audio and a pulse sync unit, the results were fantastic.

There definitely is more than one copy as Phil Sheard stripped the copy I know about. Derann did stripe some prints but there was a problem with stripe detaching or coming off and they discontinued the service.

Hi Everyone,
A busy couple of work weeks left me with no time to watch the film. Whenever I passed by the print of Little Shop I could hear it saying "Screen me!". Finally, a free moment.
Yes, this is an optical print that was striped. The original head and tail leader are missing (replaced with “Secret Of Nimh” leader), and with it all that valuable information (distributor, lab, print date). The print itself is in good condition. The flesh tones are slightly pinkish, but the greens, reds, and blues are nice and strong. The stereo audio is good, with an occasional bit of wow & flutter. Strangely enough the Steve Martin/Bill Murray sequence is in mono, but that's the only scene where that occurs.
I hadn't seen Little Shop since the original theatrical release, so it was a real joy to screen a good quality print of this very funny film.
One note: As usual I cleaned the print before projecting. The first reel was spotless. No residue on the cleaning cloth at all. The second reel though, had tons of dirt. I had to change cloths approx. every 50 ft.
Second note: Assuming the optical print was made for airlines, does anyone know if any cuts were made? I'm sure some of the lyrics would not have been deemed appropriate for family flying viewing.
Doug
