I hear that the King of 9.5mm, Grahame Newnham, suffered a stroke on 10th February, and is now in hospital.
I am sure that all nine-fivers and Forum members will join me in wishing him a speedy recovery.

What tragic news! I just hope it was not too severe a stroke, and that Grahame will fully recover. His contribution to the 9.5mm scene is incalculable.

I am so sorry to hear this. He is a most respected authority on 9.5mm and has a very impressive collection. I last saw him at the Curzon museum where he was giving a demonstration with a Buckingham 9.5 showing some wonderful old sound films. A truly great and helpful guy and I wish him a speedy recovery as I'm sure the rest of our fraternity do.

I also enjoyed Grahame's Sunday show at the ill- fated Curzon Collection in 2013.
Like many of us he started off modestly as a youngster on 9.5. Today he has probably the best collection in the UK of 9.5 sound films.
I hope he will make a speedy recovery in time for the Pimlico event on 2nd May!

Found out last night he is doing very well. Seems like it was only a minor stroke. His speech is slightly slurred but overall hes ok and should make a full recovery soon.

The latest update is that Grahame suffered a minor stroke.
He was driving his car and felt unwell, so pulled to the side of the road, as he did so it appears he lost control and the car tipped over into a ditch.
It was extremely lucky that a police car was following and was able to realise immediately that Grahame had suffered a stroke.
He has lost the use of one leg and one arm, although both should return to normal.
His speech is not perfect and he has a small clot on the brain.
He is in Southampton Hospital.

Very sorry to hear about Grahame. His name seems to have been around forever. Just makes me realise that a lot of us have been around a good few years. An old film collector in my area died recently aged 80. His house was stacked with film stuff. A couple of collectors had a sort through and I gather the rest went to the tip. I'm making sure my wife knows whats to happen with my stuff. So pleased that Grahame is progressing and that things are not as serious as they might have been.

Now posted on Grahame's Web-Site :-

"Oddly I have just suffered a 'Mini Stroke'.

I am forced to recuperate at my ladyfriend's house so will NOT be answering any e-mails, letters or the telephone until I return home in a few weeks.

Meantime I hope to post the few remaining orders in a few days.

Grahame N (18 February 2015)"

He hopes to be back home in a few days, he will then be able to get on with the job of "sorting stuff".
