Hello peeps. Looking for a projector with sound that plays single 8mm and super 8. Any recommendations and also if this compromise is not good for the film? Thanks in advance

Anthony Eumig made some good dual gauge projectors. You can tell these models as they have a D after the number. 710D 712D 802D 804D 807D 810D Also 709 822 824 You can read about all these on the Super 8 Database. Click on the projector symbol, and then scroll down to Eumig. http://www.filmkorn.org/super8data/

Anthony according to Wikipedia:
quote:Although the film is thinner, the other dimensions of Single-8 such as the sprocket holes and sound track, are the same as Super 8. Single-8 can be projected in Super 8 projectors and vice versa.

Anthony, as Janice pointed out, you can project any single 8 film in any super 8 projector and vice versa. The only thing you cannot do is to splice single 8 with cement (you need tape).

It seems that I miss-read Anthony's request which I thought was asking about a dual gauge projector for which I apologise. Many people do get confused over the designation of films which are 8mm wide.
As I write I have in front of me my Elmo ST-1200HD in its original box which is very clearly printed with the words "Elmo ST-1200HD 2-Track 8mm Sound Projector. At least the Instruction Book knows it's a Super 8 model!

Thanks for the replies. It appears I got the film designation wrong (newbie). What I mean is I need a regular or standard 8mm with Super 8 projector. The reel hole on standard 8mm doesn't fit my super 8 projector.

The Eumig dual-gauge models have a standard (regular) 8 feed spindle, with the projector comes a sleeve to fit over for use with Super 8 spools.
The take-up spindle is only for Super 8 spools, so these have to be used when taking up a standard (regular) 8 film.
The sprockets are changed, as are the gate assemblies, for each gauge. The single claw is able to work with either.
Last, but not least, is a slide switch to change the position of sound pickup from each gauge

Then Anthony if you want a single projector that runs both Standard 8 and Super 8 sound films use the list of dual gauge Eumigs provided by Maurice above.
If a projector that runs Super 8 Sound and Standard 8 silent will do... then I can recommend a Kodak MovieDeck265 or 285 or Kodak Supermatic. I have two these projectors and they also come with a pull-out viewing screen. Maximum reel size is 400 ft.
