It certainly is a case of things are worth what others are willing to pay! I have the common 400ft colour sound version with faded colour etc,it was about NZ$30 I think. If I had lots of money and wanted it at any cost then I guess I'd bid as well I will watch the auction with interest and OMG!

I'd be showing them lots if i paid that for them.the ebay listing appear to be what's keeping cine films very high. I've always said if people want to pay these stupid prices then good luck to the seller, but starting them this high ridiculous price is just moronic. Having said that, recently someone here did list the last crusade at 900 and it got two bids. If money is not a worry and you have a lot of it then I guess you,ll be prepared to pay what you want. This is two titles I would love to own. After all I did pay well over 400 for a broken projector

If buying off ebay that's for sure. I have to say I do have a limited on what I would pay. At the end of the day it's a movie

I couldn't agree with you more Tom!
Also in your case Tom, as you're not too much of a traditionalist surrounding the whole film v digital debate, I reckon if you invested you're funds into a nice bright later full HD Video Projector, you would probably be far happier with the overall outcome screening from blu ray.
The images today's machines can produce from good source material is staggering.

Yeah that is what I will be looking at with the refund now. I will still be on the lookout for the super 8 films I want, die hard etc but only at a sensible price. I was dumb enough to turn a copy down once,I won't do it again and I will continue to sell bits and bobs to raise money for other titles.

The opening bid was $199.99; I guessed it would probably end around $500.00-$600.00. If Derann was still in business, it wouldn't go for this much. At $1500.00+, I would be afraid to run it!

It is daft isn't it? As you said if Derran were still about it would probably around 200 on there lists. It's pretty much what ebay has done.
I have a copy of Alien - stereo and scope and a copy of Aliens and a copy of Predator and Robocop and Star Trek - Generations to name but a few - I might be sitting on a veritable gold mine - but it doesn't mean I'd be selling.
