Hi, two of my recently acquired standard 8mm films have been shaking when I show them on my Bell & Howell 256, but they are fine when I put them through my Revere 85. I went back to the discussions on shaky images, in '04 and '13, and went through seven wipe-passings with Film Renew on each film. It did the job with Laurel & Hardy's Flying Elephants, but no substantial difference with L&H's Early to Bed. I could try soaking the latter with Film Renew for several days, but will first try Armorall Protectant Wipes. My question for now is why such a difference in performance between the two projectors?

Hi Jack, There are a great many projector experts on this forum (I am not one of them), but I can at least share the fact that if a film is fine on one projector, it's probably not the film. There may be an issue with the gate or claw mechanism on the projector that is shaking. Sit tight as I'm sure you'll get some advice from the people who have amazing knowledge on the subject.
