Greetings all! My first post here (have been active on doom9.org doing 8mm film restoration with Avisynth). I recently picked up a Eumig 810D. The good news is, aside from 24fps reverse, everything mechanically seems to work fine. I'll work on adjusting the main motor and the rubber pads to try to get 24fps reverse to work, but in I can live with out that function.
Now what is not working is the sound, here are the symptoms and what I've done and diagnosed:
1. Pressing the record button makes a horrid noise at any volume level (ie the volume knob doesn't control the sound). It's a buzz w/a higher frequency thrown in. 2. Playing a film results in the amp turning on, if you turn the volume up (even just a little) you do get a hum, but my understanding this is normal. 3. I've pressed the record button in and out about 100+ times and squirted it with alcohol (don't have contact cleaner) 4. I've squirted the N+S switch about 100+ times and squirted it with alcohol (don't have contact cleaner) 5. I've removed the sound pickup head, cleaned the 4 contacts 6. While the projector is running and the amp is on, if you unplug the sound head and tap your fingers on the female plug, you'll hear some quick static over the speaker, this seems to tell me the amp is ok.
So am I correct in assuming either my sound head is dead, the N+S switch is dead, or something else?
Any suggestions would be great.
Also if it is indeed the sound head, what models (other than 810) have the same head that I can replace it with?
Thanks!
Todd
