Sent you a PM regarding "Fiend," Jean-Marc.

By the way, for the metrically impaired, how long is a 180m reel?

Irrespective of whether 'Fiend' has been sold, I'd be curious to know whether this was the Mountain release (initially 4 x 400' and presumably edited a bit) or did someone release it full length?

Scott, 180m = 600ft
Adrian, according to various sources, "Fiend" runs for 73/4 minutes. I had the Mountain 4x400 version many years ago, which ran for just over 70 minutes, so there is very little edititng on this release. I bought the dvd version a few months ago (not a great deal better than the 8mm print) and from memory couldn't see what was missing from the 8mm version.

Thanks for the info, Mal, both about the reel length and about the DVD. Sorry to hear that the quality of the latter isn't as good as you'd hoped. I went hunting around for it on-line this morning and boy is it expensive ($40 US new and not much cheaper wholesale on ebay)! I wonder why . . .

Scott, I had the 'Fiend' dvd region 2 new from 'PLAY' for just £7.99. To be fair to the distributors, they say that due to it being 'archive' material, the quality is variable. It's not bad, just not top notch.
Mal. [We appear to have hi-jacked this thread, sorry Jean-Marc]

Wow! In contrast, the Region 1 Criterion Collection version of "Fiend" costs a whopping $39 US on Amazon. To be fair, the reviews of the quality of this DVD are excellent. But $39!!!

Osi, right now, these are the only ones I'm selling...
I know you collect optical sound prints so if you're interested in these two titles, I'm sure we can work something out as far as price is concerned...

POLTERGEIST is now on Ebay with a lower price. The listing is in French and states that the film is also dubbed in French, but don't worry, if the film goes to a foreign home, it will be in English.

I have also added LOUSIANA STORY by Robert Flaherty (1948). Full length, supplied on 6x120 m (6x400ft), b&w, magnetic original sound (french subtitles). Good print.
Film details here .
Ebay listing here .

Scott, Dan,
I'm glad these two "classics" have found some good homes.
