When they were available for distribution in 1950, shorts sold for $1.75 meanwhile, "Features" or 400' titles were $5.50.
According to an inflation calculator: What cost $5.50 in 1950 would cost $49.26 in 2010. That's over 90% in appreciation for this film in the last 60 years! A true piece of "history".

well spotted Gerald, this shows what a bunch of chancers there are out there on eBay - and this is just in a field we have expertise in. How many people are selling original 1950s elvis CDs? Am I missing a trick or does the eBay seller have to pay a fee on every listing based on the starting price even if the item is not sold - so this seller's $4,000 starting price would attract a substantial eBay fee?

Ebay charges a "final value fee" based on the final selling price. Plus Paypal gets a piece (Ebay owns Paypal). There may or may not be a listing fee depending on listing type.
