Any thoughts or reviews read. I put elsewhere that oddly the older samsung 1400, I hear, beats the 1500 or even more recent 1600, so I wonder what is best at the around £150 or less mark now to get you going with top drawer std dvd pics as well. Best Mark.

Mark, take stevens advice.Go for a panny.Do you have a richer sounds store were you live?.Andy. PS That would be the place to go.
In my humble opinion this is the best value for money. Mine has given me trouble free operation for 6 months, it is BD live and can update it’s self automatically, always giving you the latest software fresh from the net.
The other thing I like about it is it’s simplicity of use including the remote control. It’s good looking, the web is full of high praise not a bad review have I found and most of all it’s a Sony.
And within your budget £149 a good price.
Just my offering.
I would also recommend the Panny if it is a prefered make, I have gone of them a bit myself, so can't be objective about them. But they do also have great reviews. The samsung i no nothing about. but the TVs are not bad.
On thinking about it, the Panny maybe better than the Sony if yo don't mind the extra money. But the Sony will give you trouble free and quality viewing as well, so your call i'm afraid. Best luck in the hunt.
