I am a total novice. We uncovered our Bolex 18-5 Automatic 8mm projector, bought in the 60s. It seems in great shape with original zippered cover and manual--except the lamp is not working. I would be thankful for some guidance o n where to purchase a new lamp. The one currently in the projector may be a Toshiba 8V 50W.

Hi Lillian, I have a few 8mm projectors in my collection that takes that sort of lamp. Replacement lamps can be expensive but I have found that buying dead projectors with the lamp still working to be the best and usually cheapest option. Oddly the value of a dead projector with working lamp has almost no value,sure the lamps aren't new but they do work

These lamps were extremely widely used in 1960s projectors so secondhand lamps are easy to find on Ebay but beware of high prices for so-called "new old stock" that were made decades ago
