Good luck on this Phil. I’ve attended since retiring fourteen years ago and missed it greatly. Hope there’s lots of support.

My first film fair was up north 1980 at the Cliffs Blackpool on a bank holiday Sunday and Monday,it was the most amazing time of my life. Entry was £1 per day with new equipment demos and of course the wide screen show. The Mayor of Blackpool came along and it supported the Life Boat Appeal all good charity work.
Anyone organising a new event deserves applause particularly with London overheads to cope with.

Phil I do hope you receive the necessary help and assistance from sellers and dealers. Living as I do in Bristol, since the closure of Geoff's Tadley convention, Ealing is the next convenient event for me.

Twas a great shame Tadley ended as its was a really lovely event and Geoff used to look after the dealers really well. It was only a 500+ or so mile round trip for us in the motor and made a good weekend of it once again with like minded celluloid people. Forget the name of the pub but a few of us used to pile in the day before and run some films to the locals. Good times!
For what its worth input wise. When my own film fair was running many dealers kept asking me to put one on in Yorkshire as nothing was happening over that way. There are good venues over that coast line with good transport both in and out as well. It could be worth revisiting that idea.

The two next events I will attend in the UK (in London) is the 9.5 Spring Fair on Saturday 13th April and the Big Screen Time on Sunday 12th May.
I dont post very often but feel I would like to show support to Phil Sheard. It seems this hobby has been personally carried forward in its truest sense by Phil. Actually, his shop is about half a mile down the road from where I am typing this message.
Phil has over the years shown true commitment to this hobby and I know from personally knowing him put all his own resources into furthering it way back and continues to do so. When someone puts their money where their mouth is then it says it all.
Its been my privilege of knowing all the dealers personally and like most I view Phil like i did my friend Derek Simmonds the best in the business.
To be honest I knew all the other dealers - and 16mm people - and apart from Phil, Derann and Paul Foster and Independent 8..and Ian O'Reilly.I do not rate any of the others - as I personally know a lot more than i can post here about others..oh yes.
So I hope he gets support - he gets his critics but has done far more than anyone else
