Aa an ex customer of David Guest for some many excellent films, it would be interesting to learn that David's stock of films and projection accessories have gone to a good home. Perhaps they may be later offered for sale.

I think there was some confusion about this as Dave said last time that his family wouldn't be selling film this year. I suspect, in retrospect, he hoped all would go at his last sale at this home.

David adored blackpool. when he took it over from Derann he enjoyed every minute of running it. even though he was so ill last year, he was determined he would be there. yes i'm sure he will be there in spirit this year.

We had a nice sentimental show here projecting some films of collector friends passed recalling all the old memories as you do. A nice thing to do and remember our old friends. I'm sure we will all be sharing many stories at Blackpool this year..

there certainly will Lee. i'm sure. David wanted blackpool to continue. as you will all appreciate the hiring of the hotel is costly. but it gives collectors the oportunity to indulge in meeting up, dining and buying films etc in great surroundings.and over three days if you wish to do so.and many do just that. but it can only continue with the continued support of both dealers and collectors.many events now around the country are held in school/church halls etc.nothing wrong in that.but blackpool is different. those who have attended in the past and continue to attend know what a fabulous event this is. so as the saying goes. use it or loose it.

We should all continue to support this event now and in the coming years - but will the Guest family always be associated with it or would another collector/dealer take on the overall responsibility in fronting the event ?

Elaine Guest told me some weeks ago she will continue running this excellent event. but no one can run such an event if it makes a loss. so continued support is needed if it is to continue. so really its down to collectors and dealers. myself i sincerely hope it does. to see this kind of event end would be a disaster for the hobby. so i ask all collectors to give this event your total support. any queries please contact Elaine herself on 07931 457817.

thankyou David. i know you have attended before and will eagerly look forward to it once again this year. you know, i don't know of anyone who went to the blackpool film fair in the past and did not have an exceptional time. i urge anyone who has never been to give it a try. not only do you come away with fabulous bargains but your in the company of like minded people.

I fully agree with everything said about the unique appeal of Blackpool. But the fact that Shorty made the journey from the USA last year - and had such a good time that he will return this year - surely says it all. What greater recommendation could anyone possibly want!
