I've had a few goes now at using both the Fujica and the C.I.R. splicers, and find it difficult to choose which I prefer at the moment. I've actually made about a dozen splices with each type, and they both run faultlessly through my ST1200 HD. INFINITELY better than the cement jobbies!!
However, whilst both came with a reel of splicing tape, and the C.I.R. has virtually a new roll, the Fuji has all but run out.
I have phoned The Widescreen Centre, Deranns and CHC, all of whom tell me that the pre-punched Fuji rolls of splicing tape have been discontinued and are no longer available. Unpunched rolls of tape, however, abound.
Is this true?
If so, I'm glad I only paid a fiver for the Fujica splicer, and not the other way round.
Does anybody have any other information to the contrary?
Dave.

To Kevin C. and Rob, plus anyone else interested.
I have had several communications from Johan Kalee regarding the pre-punched Fujica splicing tape. He has quite a large new stock of the genuine article, and so I have ordred 10 rolls. This is probably far more than I shall ever need, but the fact that other stockists say that it has been discontinued, disappointed me. Therefore I wish to thank Kev for offering to look out for some on eBay, on my behalf, and also Rob for drawing my attention to this little gem of a shop in Amsterdam - gosh - I nearly typed Amstel beer then!! Slurp, slurp!! Aahh, aahh!!
I would therefore suggest anyone wishing to continue to use their Fuji splicer to get their tape from 'Sin City'.
One final thing. He does not take credit cards nor PayPal. Purchases can only be made by credit transfer direct to his bank (expensive), or cash. I have opted to send cash; concealed, insured and registered, through the mail. I've bought many international items this way for far greater amounts, and never had a problem.
So there you have it!
I can continue to use both my new-found accessories with impunity.
Thanx!
Dave.

Mike,
Might I dare to be first on the list then? If you come across either a Standard 8 or Super 8 sound movie of Old Time American Railroading, I'd be eternally grateful. Preferably of the cowboy era, and/or later, with large or small steam locos, would be perfect. Not a cowboy film with trains, though, but more historic/documentary/nostalgic would be the order of the day. Clearly, the longer the film, the better, but no constraints, you understand!
Well, I can only ask; and you can always say no!
Best,
Dave.

Rob,
That's very gracious of you. No, I haven't sent the cash yet, but I have bought the Euros ready to send. What do you suggest?
I don't suppose you want paying in Euros, or do you??
I shall be away on business for the whole of the Bank Holiday, from this afternoon till late on Monday. Perhaps we can communicate then, if that's OK.
With many thanks,
Dave.
