Not only that Adrian, but you really have to ask if super 8 was really a step forward over standard 8. Yes the picture area is a little bigger, but many people have reported that standard 8 prints were often better. Certainly, my standard 8 Kodachrome movies shot on a Bolex C8 look better than aanything I shot on super 8. Technically, nothing that was done on super 8 could not have been done with standard 8. On the downside, super 8 brought with it the horrible plastic film cartridge, along with plastic cameras and projectors. In many respects Standard 8mm was better.
