Can't view anything in super 8mm my take-up belt broke over the holiday weekend so waiting on a new belt.

I did however in 16mm purchase an excellent condition B&W print of the all time classic "On borrowed Time" I had the DVD but always wanted it on film so I finally got my wish!

This last week I obtained four great news reels, I'm not a big collector of these items but we have 6 or so & you cant help but look back at the news reels and smile,(at some of the stuff) but here we have added
Castle news 1972 (my Wife's Birth year)
Movietone News 1973,
A 200 foot Documentary on Winston Churchill, (this is one of best I've seen in both content and quality),
Pathe News 1941, this particular reel was one I won on e-bay for a good average dealer price and was more than happy, apart from being very good quality the condition of the film is top notch.
and one not pictured here is Movietone News scope reel The Firth of Forth Bridge and on set with the making of Those Magnificent men in their flying machines we got a few weeks ago, a very good LPP print.
 -

And we are now looking for two more MT news reels, 1962 and 1955

At last, a quick e-mail to Steve at the Reel image of my wants which was The Westside story extracts,(two by Derann, both in scope) and a reply straight back.
He had both and also re-recorded in stereo. Both joined onto one spool. Sent the dosh, got the goods and absolutely pleased, the sound is superb. I don't know why, but whenever something's been re-recorded I always think a part of it will be out of sync. [Confused] I guess its because it is one aspect of film collecting I have never done. But I have to say colour is great, picture is fine, and the sound is stonking.
The 200 foot extract does have better image than the 400 but having read an old FFTC mag this was reported as being the case by Keith Wilton all those years ago so I expected that.
Thanks to Steve @ Reel image. [Wink] I shall probably do a small review later with some pics.

Yes, paid approx 250 GBP for this collection including shipping and there's 100+ films, counting the 2 and 3 spliced on larger reels. 2.50 each, a bargain

I know Flåklypa Grand Prix once made 170 GBP on a norwegian auction site and usually 60+. This was in super condition too, so it should maybe fetch 100 GBP

Sometimes one is just lucky in some things. Too bad my health isn't one of those things :-/

Just got Fun And Fancy Free and Reflections USA with some trailers. Also The Lady Vanishes Walton print. Not had chance to watch them yet.

It did fell like going back in time when they arrived, the first two from Gary Brocklehurst made me feel like Derann was back. The Lady from Ian Perry's Movies.

Just received a film that I have been looking for quite a while, the Laurel & Hardy 30 min short Blotto. I screened it tonight and the Blackhawk print is very good with excellent sound. Once again I fell on the floor laughing at the boys at the end of the film where they are supposedly drunk in the night club. Absolutely hilarious and one of the funniest films I have ever seen.

Superb Paul and Jason, just superb! I would like to find another "Christmas Carol" one day. It's one of my favourite mini-features and would love a decent back up print.
