Hi David,
I think many of us would do something like this if we could afford it, but to spend your "life savings" on it??? [Roll Eyes]

Andy did attend the Blackpool convention last November, and showed me the building progress of the cinema from when it was a hole in the ground to what it is now. He also had a big spread in the tabloids in the UK on New Year's Eve, I think.
However, not sure whether he is a member of the forum.
Amazing job,though!

Hey, someone stole my dream... and made it real.

I think he has done everything just right. The size of the building and the screen size, it would suit 16mm and super 8 too with the GS xenon. The exact right doors inside and out. Old style radiators. Perfect. Worth every penny. Even having the carpet made - I remember that carpet!

Not enough to amass £70k by the time you get to 38 that's for sure Paul!

All I can say, is with two kids, this guy must be working 24/7 as a plasterer / joiner / plumber / electrician also. [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Wink]

If I earned 100 grand a year, I couldn't have saved £70k by the time I was 38 with a family.
Not on PAYE anyhow!

Good on him though however he's managed it, the cinema is fantastic! Now where's the Super 8mm??? 😁😁

And going by the video, how marvelous is it that one of his first guests was Michael Myers of Halloween fame? [Wink] [Big Grin]

I think the telling line on finance came (as you might expect) from his wife:- "Any savings from when we've moved house have been poured into this so that he could fulfill his dream."

An excellent job there.
He must own the only Cinemecannica Vic 4 in the entire ABC chain.
It a shame it was not a Philips or Kinoton projector now that would be really authentic. [Smile] [Smile] [Smile]

Yes but the "official" ABC Cinema chain is now defunct.

This guy is only "playing" at cinemas at home even though he has spent all that dosh on his lifelong hobby and interest in cinemas.

I doubt if he is even a member of the C.E.A.

Still hats off to him. [Wink] [Wink] [Wink]

Great setup...makes my home cinema of 20 seats look really in need of an update. But I doubt I would spend 70,000 doing it.
Bit hard in my case as its under the lounge room of the house & rather constrained by the house footings & flooring above etc.
None the less I am quite pleased with my arrangement being able to screen 8mm, 16mm & 35mm films onto a 3m screen. On screening days the car garage doubles as a foyer...multitasking at its best.

Good on him in indulging his passion surrounded by very supportive family would be a great toy to have.
