Hi All,

Please can anyone tell me how to align the optics on my Sankyo 2000H.

Thank you in advance,
James.

Can you be a little more specific. Are you asking how to insert or remove the lens? ... or have you disassembled the lens and need help putting it back together? There's not much else involved with the optics on that projector.

Or is it just that you cannot focus the image properly?

Hi All,

I can focus the image but there is a bit of overlap
on the edges of the picture, perhaps this is normal
I`m not sure, I`ve cleaned the lenses etc.
If the light is focused to an absolute square on
the screen, and the film is then run the picture is slightly out of focus.
But has Janice pointed out there is only the lens
and I have already cleaned that thoroughly in & out

Regards,
James.

Can you post some pics of what you are seeing? ... with and without film. This might help us determine if what you are seeing is normal or not. It's possible that the gate is out of alignment.

James, I almost forgot...There is also a piece of heat shield glass that can get dirty over the years. You can clean that or even remove it. However if you remove it there is the potential to burn the film if it gets jammed in the gate. Take a look at this thread to see how to get to the heat shield glass. The pictures are for a Sankyo 1000, but it's the same process for the 2000H.

Hi Janice,

I have done as you suggested the only thing left is the gate alignment, can you tell me how to go about aligning it?

Thanks,
James.

This is a dual-gauge projector, perhaps the gauge change mechanism is not working correctly.

Difficult to give you a straight answer without seeing a screenshot, but you have to remember that the film and the film gate are not on the same focal plane so, in a nutshell, if the film is in focus, it is normal to get slightly blurry edges. And the longer the lens (ie - at its maximum zoom enlargment) the more obvious it will be.
